The Lidl app is a mobile application developed by Lidl, a popular supermarket chain. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded for free from the respective app stores.
Overall, the Lidl app is a useful tool for customers who want to stay up-to-date with Lidl’s latest offers and save money on their grocery shopping, offering convenience and savings with features like weekly offers and discount coupons, digital receipts and store locator.
My impression and expectations of the product
Onboarding
When you download and install the Lidl Plus app, the initial step is to create an account. During sign-up, you provide your location and phone number, followed by selecting your preferred store. Subsequently, you are prompted to enter a few of personal details. After completing this onboarding process, you gain access to all features of the app.
While the onboarding process for the Lidl Plus app is generally straightforward, there are pros and cons to using phone numbers for registration. On the positive side, it simplifies the process by eliminating the need for additional login credentials. It also enhances security through verification, reducing the risk of fraudulent accounts. Moreover, it establishes a communication channel for important updates and account-related information.
However, there are potential downsides. Privacy concerns may arise as users hesitate to share their phone numbers due to the possibility of unwanted communication. Additionally, the user experience can be affected by the slight delay incurred during the onboarding process while entering the phone number and waiting for verification.
Overall, user preferences regarding onboarding with phone numbers can vary. Apps often offer multiple registration options to accommodate different preferences and ensure a smoother onboarding experience.
Landingpage
The Navbar menu button menu is divided into clear categories such as “Offers,” “Coupons,” and “Leaflet,” with a kebab Menu to see more features. The app also makes good use of icons and graphics to help communicate information quickly and clearly.
One of the key features of the Lidl app is its digital rewards program called Lidl Plus. The Extended floating action button “Lidl plus card” help people take this primary feature. Customers can sign up for Lidl Plus to receive exclusive discounts, personalized coupons, and special offers.
By analyzing a customer’s purchasing and usage behavior, the app is able to offer discounts and deals for items that the customer is likely to be interested in. This not only benefits the customer, but also helps Lidl to increase sales and customer loyalty.
Overall, the landing page for the Lidl Plus app is well-designed, providing users with an intuitive and informative experience, featuring a clear call-to-action. However, I think the ad’s design interfere with the user’s ability to understand the product’s features and benefits. The use of images could be improved by making them cleaner and more effective. The title for each Lidl Plus offer seems redundant since the section is already dedicated to that. Similarly, the same applies to the Coupon Plus section. A a review of Hierarchy laws in design could be improve for the user experience.

Here’s a description of the Lidl app and its key functionalities:

Downsides
While the Lidl app has many useful features, there are also a few potential downsides and criticisms. These include:
Limited product range: While Lidl offers a wide range of products, not all of them are available on the app. Some users may find that their favorite items are not included in the digital catalog, which can be disappointing.
Technical issues: Like any app, the Lidl app may experience technical glitches or bugs from time to time. This can be frustrating for users who rely on the app to manage their shopping experience.
Privacy concerns: Some users may be uncomfortable with the amount of personal data that the Lidl app collects in order to offer personalized promotions and discounts. While the app’s privacy policy is transparent and clearly outlined, some users may still have reservations about sharing their data.
Lacking
There are a few commonly expected and useful features that are currently missing from the app. Here are four such features:
Virtual Shopping Cart: A virtual shopping cart feature would enable users to add products to their cart directly within the app, and eventually ask for a preparation.
In-Store Scanning: Incorporating an in-store scanning feature would allow users to scan barcodes or QR codes of products while shopping in a Lidl store. This feature could provide additional product information, pricing details, and user reviews, aiding customers in making informed purchasing decisions.
Social Sharing/Community: The Lidl Plus app currently lacks a social sharing or community aspect. Integrating social sharing functionality would allow users to share their favorite products, recipes, or shopping experiences with their friends and followers on various social media platforms. This would facilitate engagement and foster a sense of community among Lidl app users.
Including these missing features in future updates of the Lidl Plus app would enhance its functionality and provide users with a more comprehensive and enriched shopping experience.
